True Hip Hop
What comes to mind when you hear Hip Hop? Many people
think about the rappers, the explicit lyrics, gang lifestyle, and baggie clothes.
Unfortunately, none of these items have anything to do with true Hip Hop. The
above mentioned items are just a few examples of the negatives that have
clung to the Hip Hop culture over the years. Hip Hop is more than music and
dancing it also includes graffiti artists. Hip Hop is a culture that started
in the streets of New York in the early 80's. During that time, gangs were very
popular. Many youth had to look for alternative lifetsyles than to fall victim
to their gang surroundings. That is how Hip Hop began. The disadvantaged
youth were looking for a way out of their negative environment by utilizing
special skills to get noticed and become "Ghetto Fabulous"...
