The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is about a woman named Hester who came to America ahead of her husband, who never arrives. Awhile after arriving in America, Hester gives birth to a girl named Pearl. Hester is then given a scarlet letter "A" on her breast and punished for committing the sin of adultery. Hester only manages to keep her child as a result of the help of the minister Arthur Dimmesdale. Hestor's long-lost husband, living under the name Roger Chillingworth, vows to get revenge for her committing adultery.
The Scarlet Letter was not a book that I had fun reading. The book used language such as "Ye and thou," which made it very difficult to read. The language usage made it a much weaker book. If the author used English that is used today, it would be a stronger book and a much easier read. With the language that was used, it takes more time to read because the reader has to convert the Old English words into modern English of today...
