The Dinner Party
"We will be having afternoon tea in the conservatory just before four, make sure the delicacies are suitably covered this time. We certainly don't want a repeat of last. Now do we Simon?"
"No madam indeed we do not. I had words with the cook and she assured me it would not happen again."
Lady Sophia walked through the large open archway of the hall and winced at the odour of the freshly painted walls. "Oh and Simon"
"Yes madam"
"Make sure this floor is thoroughly cleaned for the guests arriving tomorrow evening for the dinner party."
"Certainly madam"
Lady Sophia then disappeared into a huge room at the bottom of the hallway and closed the large heavy wooden door behind her with a slight strain appearing upon her face. Her appearance always showed her to be delicate, fine and refined although there was a sharp contrast between her appearance and her attitude towards the servants.
At the far corner of the room her husband, Lord Charles Braithwaite, sat with a fine pair of black pressed trousers, crisp white shirt and heavy V neck black pullover, this seemed to help in the disguise of his above average heavier body...
