Name: The Living Gaia
Everybody lives their life by their own personal ethic. Whether it is conscious or unconsciously not a person on this planet makes any decisions without an underlying moral base for this choice. According to the American Heritage Dictionary, an ethic is the study of the general nature of morals and of the specific moral choices to be made by a person; moral philosophy or the study of the general nature of morals and of the specific moral choices to be made by a person; a moral philosophy. Simply put, ethics are like guidelines for life decisions. However because of the vast spectrum of moral and ethical codes throughout the world, even defining and observing any given moral guidelines can become treacherous waters, metaphorically speaking. It is safe to say that at this time the human species is anthropocentric; or in other words focuses singularly on mankind with very little regard for anything outside the human race. Despite the vast world that we exist in with its nearly endless variety of other living creatures nearly all of our decisions focus entirely on how it serves ourselves. This anthropocentrism is detrimental to the well-being of the entire planet Earth; The Living Gaia.
On this premise it would seem reasonable to develop an ethical creed that does not only serve human needs but also expands to address the planet as a living whole as well as all of its inhabitants. This is an enormous task but not impossible...
