The air was warm. At least I thought so. But then again, I was unable to feel my limbs, so who am I to say. The high pitched wringing and smell of burning continued to engulf my senses, only adding to the pain as my dizzy head returned from its mellow slumber. Slowly, as the hundreds of blurred lines shifted and swayed into place, a scene eased into view. First the flames, then the twisted steel and finally a hunched figure perched on a rock. Then the past hit me, we had CRASHED! A slow, suffering moan left my lips as I dragged my limp body into a slightly more vertical posture. The shadowy figure lifted his head in response and a glint of white teeth escaped his slouching hood. For a while we sat there, our shattered minds racing to repossess what seemed like worthless shreds of our scattered memories. At length, the shining teeth released a rough, grave voice, “I think we’re alone.” Word by word, the conversation continued; rife with heavy breathing and painful sighs.
