Big Night is the story of a man that starts out with the American dream, but comes to reality with something more important. Two brothers named Primo and Secondo are immigrants from Italy that are trying to run an Italian restaurant, called the Paradise, in the foreign land of New Jersey. Primo is the main chef of the restaurant and has the passionate ability to make food that is to die for. Secondo assists Primo somewhat with the food, but is more the business-minded front man of the restaurant. Secondo has a dream of being successful and affluent in America; his brother is homesick focused in art and would never surrender for anything to have his food commercialized. This sets up for some conflicts between the brothers especially with their restaurant on the brink of going bankruptcy. Secondo is desperate and he looks for answers and financial aid from somewhat from his friend Pascal. Pascal is the owner of the competing restaurant down the street, which is much more successful, but it's cooking and preparation of food is not even comparable to that of the skills of Primo. Pascal does not lend him money, but offers aid in promising to have his famous musician friend, Louis Prima, perform at his restaurant the following night. This would at least get some desired publicity for the Paradise...
