Reasons for the Fall of the House of Usher
The Fall of the House of Usher is a story written by Edgar Allan Poe in 1839. There are several reasons for the fall of the house of Usher. One reason could be the bizarre curse of madness. All of the Usher's are dead except for Lady Madeline and Roderick Usher. The fall of this house is internal and external and the madness is internal. I believe the madness reached everyone except for Madeline. She is a victim of Roderick, "And in her horrible and now final death-agonies, bore him to the floor a corpse and a victim to the terrors he had dreaded" (Poe). The madness of this family made the family fall apart. Roderick wanted to do away with her because he knew she was a sane person. He even made it seem as if she was sick...
