De Stijl (The Style), originated from the 1917 group of artists, architects, and poets with strict ideals in the alliance to standing up as a group of artists. Spreading the theories of the group, Theo van Doesburg, created a magazine to aid in explaing his works and others in an attempt to discuss modern art. After many debates the group named the magazine 'The Style' as the only us expression in modern art and culture.
Exerting trmedous influence on others syles such as Bauhaus and the Internatioanal Style, it's no wonder the pure abstraction and simplicity in forming geometric shapes to work towards an unttainable Ideal Harmony. These Dutch artists and their nonfigurative movement , also called neoplasticism, influenced the architects like J.J.P. Oud and Gerrit Rietvad to to create radical homes, buildings, and furniture. The idea of the De Stijl is a variation of abstract art recognized by horizontal and vertical lines in concur with the primary colors, with open or closed shapes that went back to the elements of art like: form and line, color and level.
