The events that occur in ones life often shape the people that result. The transforming years of teenage-hood hold both the greatest joys and challenging obstacles. For the two young girls in these books the changes and sacrifices are drastic and cannot be taken back. Annie from “The Breakable Vow” by Kathryn Ann Clarke, and Jamie from “A Walk to Remember” by Nicholas Sparks, are both teenage girls trying to overcome life’s obstacles thrown there way. Both girls live a somewhat normal life until they get shocking news that will change them forever. As a result of the news they both choose to marry at a young age. Even though things become difficult in the lives of both girls they choose to remain positive and try to make the best out of challenging situations. Annie is a popular eighteen year old who has many dreams she wishes to accomplish in her life. Her dreams are put on hold when she finds out that she is going to become a mother. She is in a huge state of shock and doesn’t know how to react to the situation put in front of her. Annie tells her boyfriend Kevin and her family, who turn out to have different reactions to the situation. She is lucky that she has a lot of support from her family because her boyfriend is very angry about this. She makes a very mature decision and decides that she should keep the baby despite what Kevin’s mother has to say.
