Intensification and development of relations and cooperation with EU and its members in all possible sectors is one of the long-term foreign policy strategic priorities of our country.
Fourteen years have passed since establishment of diplomatic relations, which was an important period of time in terms of formation of legal basis for Mongolia-EU relations and shaping content and nature of cooperation. Nowadays relations and cooperation between Mongolia and EU successfully develop in many sectors.
People of Mongolia is deeply grateful for the support and assistance provided by EU and its new members to our country on its way of overcoming obstacles faced during transition to democracy and firmly advancing to new peaks of growth and development. Technical and development assistance provided to Mongolia from EU through Tacis and ALA programmes is contributing significantly to the current development of our country.
I would like to emphasise here that as a result of exchange of high level visits between Mongolia and EU member countries, mutual trust in relations between Mongolia and EU deepen even more.
Respect for human rights and freedom has become a firm basis in political, economic and intellectual life of Mongolia, and values of democracy and market economy principles are strengthened. Furthermore, modern world puts new challenges in front of us, and we need to find our way in globalising environment. In a new century, we pursue a multi polar foreign policy in order to establish favourable external environment for development of Mongolia and to strengthen its independence and sovereignty through political and diplomatic means. Within this framework EU and its members as a whole are considered as our third neigbour country and we desire to deepen and expand relations and cooperation with them furthermore...
