Religion is a complex field. There are many different aspects of religion; therefore, studying religion can require much thought. Before studying religion, it is reasonable to say that one must know what religion is. Since Confucians do not believe in any supreme being or beings, or any transcendental power, would one consider Confucianism a religion? It would depend on how one defines religion.
