Did you know that after 3 years of decline in CD sales, the record industry has had a 13% increase in 2003? Downloading music is also more popular than ever with a 34% increase in 2003. (Morpheus, 3) This proves that the music industry can survive without worrying about peer-to-peer companies ruining their sales. If they learned to work together, however, anyone could see profit would go through the roof! The common customer would benefit from this too without having to be prosecuted for downloading the music. They would be able to do it legally. Young children who are ignorant of the law would not be prosecuted either, and parents would not have to worry. This would help the customers with lower prices, and the music industry with increased popularity and profit.
First of all, the record industry could gain popularity by letting peer-to-peer companies use only some of their songs. The record companies would only have to let users of the peer-to-peer to download some of their most popular songs...
