Political Correctness
As we move farther into the 21st century, our world, country, state, and city have made sweeping reforms to hinder any type of stereotype or discrimination. This principle is valiant in nature, and has surely made our communities better places to live, but it has gone too far. Reminiscent of Orwell's 1984, our societies have made efforts to rid our vocabularies of any type of descriptive word that is not viewed as equally endearing to all parties. For example, the use of the word 'he' is now viewed as sexist, even though its uses are grammatically correct. This idea of political correctness is a major hindrance in interpersonal communication. Be it in public speaking, or in a dyad, this initiative hampers all communication efforts because it requires the speaker to modify and censor his original message. This political correctness is not only hypocritically biased in its uses, but also infringes on free speech, and is wrong because it is totally based on one's surrounding environment.
Political correctness as a communication form is self defeating and hypocritical in and of itself. Being politically correct is biased in its uses because it is completely hollow in nature. It actively tries to not discriminate against a group or groups of people, but it is does just that...
