The widespread use of databases provides Data Base Administrator (DBA) with the opportunity to travel all over the world. A qualified Data Base Administrator (DBA) would find employment in any large or small businesses, and even in technical or non-technical industries. Companies need analysts, administrators, and data-center managers who can protect data, improve performance access to it, and find the best ways to mine it for key strategies such as improved customer-relationship management (Mary Hayes, 2002). A recent survey found there are 10% more Oracle DBA jobs now than a year ago." With this kind of stability, a career as a DBA seems like a good choice for my career-path.
Generally, DBA is to keep the database running all the time. They are responsible for ensuring that the database system is performing at optimum potential, utilizing efficient use of computer resources such as storage, memory, and processing cycles. Most importantly, it is backing up the critical data and recovering it if it has been lost. What this means is that, if there is a failure, the data is recoverable and can be restored.
