Abdullah Ibn Abbas
Abdullah Ibn Abbas was one of the great Islamic philosophers in his life. People used to think that he was the wisest man after the prophet, and he also was known as the prophet's cousin. Abdullah Ibn Abbas was also known for memorizing, understanding and interpreting every saying or as we call it in Arabic "hadeeth" of the prophet.
Abdullah Ibn Abbas was born three years after Hijrah in Medina; just after he was born his mother took him to be blessed by the prophet. The prophet always thought Abdullah as his son; Abdullah acquired most of his knowledge from the prophet himself which made him grows up to is a wise man. Abdullah died at the age of 72 years during one his expeditions in the city of Taif.
Abdullah Ibn Abbas early life influenced his future greatly. When he was at the age where he knew how to read and write he began to always follow the prophet on expeditions, the prophet loved Abdullah and thought of him as his son and used to always pray for him to grow up and be a wise man. Abdullah was always alert to and paid attention to what the prophet did and said, and every time when the prophet was about to pray, he would go and run and fetch water for him to clean, and the prophet would always carry him and pat him on the back and say may god make you a wise man. When Abdullah was 13 the prophet passed away, Abdullah was devastated and did know what to do or who to follow, but then he remembered the prophet praying for him to be a wise man, thus Abdullah devoted his life to learning knowledge...
