The century project was a beautiful assimilation of a diverse group of women courageously bearing pieces of their souls. Each woman represented a different story at a unique moment in history to create a fluid picture of commonalties and connection in the existence of women. Although different details, many women recounted similar experiences and emotions related to the trauma. With the high prevalence of trauma (reported 70% of people experienced one or more trauma) in American, it could be assumed that the majority of the women featured experienced some sort of trauma. While only a handful of the women directly spoke about the trauma, they reveled other struggles possibly related. A number of women, who did not speak directly about trauma, spoke of responses recognized as probable outcomes post-trauma. These differences in what was spoken about between the women regarding their trauma might be due to the woman’s mental and emotional state concerning the trauma. Some elements of influence could be the amount of processing they have done with around the trauma, the significance given to the trauma, the severity or “badness” of the trauma, and the state of life at the time of writing their statements.
