In reaction to the statement “An entrepreneur labors 16 hours a day to avoid working for someone else for 8 hours a day”: Sarah in her pie shop was working starting early in the morning until all hours of the night trying to wear all hats of the business. This meant baking, cleaning, bookkeeping, sales, etc. The danger of overwork is that you begin to drop the ball and are still working for the boss, the only problem is that the boss is now you. To prevent overwork you must systemize your positions in order to allow you to move your business from infancy to adolescence. 2. Gerber discusses “working ON your business not IN your business”. When you work on your business, you are perfecting your prototype. This leads to more efficient systems that would allow an employee to easily assume responsibilities yet with an accountability structure.
