National Scholarship Month
May is National Scholarship Month and both students and organizations alike have scholarships on their minds. One of the purposes of this month is to make local and national businesses, clubs, organizations, and associations more aware of the financial needs of college-bound students, and to encourage them to launch their own scholarship programs.
You should take advantage of National Scholarship Month by setting aside more time to look for scholarships. It is not too late to find scholarships for the 2004-2005 school year -- but you need to be looking NOW! Hopefully, those of you who have already received scholarships for school will take a few minutes of your time this month to remember those who supported your education. You could show your appreciation by sending a thank you note. Let the scholarship provider know how much the scholarship has helped you, and give the provider an update of your college career thus far, such as your major, grades, extracurricular activities, etc. If scholarship providers realize how much their scholarships have helped students, they may be more likely to continue to offer scholarships in the future.
