The dropping of the Atomic bomb over Hiroshima and Nagasaki has aroused a great debate and even today, people still have conflicting opinions over the matter. The construction of the atomic bomb (A-bomb) first began with the Manhattan Project. Some of the most brilliant minds of the nation combined to discover how to split an atom and thus, creating the A-bomb in 1945. Shortly after this discovery, President Truman ordered two atomic bombs to be used during World War II. On August 6, 1945, a B-29 named the Enola Gay dropped the uranium bomb known as "Little Boy" over the city of Hiroshima. Instantly, 66,000 people were killed and over 69,000 people were injured. Due to the radioactive fallout, many more people died. Radiation was a major factor after 1945. Between 1946 and 1951, over 60,000 people died from radiation related illnesses. Unfortunately, the US decided to drop a second bomb three days later...
