A Child Called It , is an inspirational book written by Dave Pelzer (David), telling us about his own childhood. As a child David was a very a brave and very strong (mentally) boy. He needed a lot of courage to survive, because starting at the age of 6, David was abused by his own mother, the one that had once loved him very much. David was a very good boy, but no matter how good he was, his mother would still beat and yell at him. David lived with his father, Stephen Joseph, his mother, Catherine Roerva, and his two brothers Ronald, Stan, and also a new born baby brother in Daly City, San Francisco. He started out with a very happy life, both his parents loved him very much. His mother was a very nice and compassionate woman, but after a while things changed. For some reason David's mother changed. She turned from being a nice and loving mother to becoming an evil and cold-blooded mother. This poor child had to do all the chores at home. Sometimes he does not get food for a few days. If his mom was in a good mood he might get some leftovers, however if she were in a bad mood, besides not getting food he would also get abused. Not getting food was only a small proportion of the torment, David has been burned on the stove, putted in the bathtub with cold water for a few hours, locked in a room with a bucket of annomia and chemicals to suffocate him.
