During World War I, the Canadians proved themselves as hard hitting and brave people. They were an important part of the Allied Forces during the war and showed their independence to the world. The most important event in Canadian history is the Battle of Vimy Ridge. It is definitely the most important part of Canada's history because it has shown the Canadians' strength; courage and it became a Canadian victory.
The Canadians showed their strength to the world during the battle of Vimy Ridge. They were the most successful team during the battle and none of the other countries in the Allied Forces could match their might. They were much more successful than the British and the French forces, since the British and the French were not able to take the ridge. The Quote: "the Battle of Vimy Ridge saw the Canadian Corps sweep away firmly entrenched German defenders" (Duffy) shows how Canada was stronger than the other forces, since the other forces were not successful. On April 8th 1917, there were 30000 Canadian soldiers at the frontline (Cavendish 335-336). On the morning of April 9th 1917, 20000 soldiers attacked the Germans in Vimy Ridge and took the ridge by the afternoon...
