I attended the Bergamot Station and the gallery that really got me interested was the Craig Krull Gallery. In this gallery, there were two photographers who really caught my interest. These photographers were Frederick Sommer and Michael Light. These two photographers both had very different stylistic approaches to their photographs that evoked different emotions from me the viewer.
The first photograph that really caught my eye was one titled "Max Ernst", and it was photographed by Frederick Sommer. This image had an eerily ancient look to it, with old, worn textures combined with an old white haired man. This photo was obviously created by laying one image on top of another, and it looked like it could have been done with modern technologies like Photoshop. To my surprise, the photo was created by Frederick Sommer in 1946, before computers or Photoshop was ever even thought possible. The photo was black and white with a dark background that looked like some sort of wood, and inside that image was an old man directly centered in the frame.
