The IMF is an organization within the United Nations that lends money to developing countries in order help the world economy. They promote the flow of business through the country's national currency. It was created in treaty in 1945 and they are headquartered in Washington D.C. Their mission is to prevent an economic crisis in any country. By stopping the crisis from growing into a larger scale, they aim to help the world economy prosper. Among their members, 184 countries participate.
The IMF gets its money from subscriptions or quotas from the 184 countries that participate in the agency. The countries are called on to pay those subscriptions with currency that is valuable, like the dollar or yen. The other countries which have a lesser coin pay with their own currency when called on by the IMF...
