As a high school senior, I can honestly say that I never imagined it would be this difficult to stay focused and graduate. High School was just always there. It's a natural thing for a teenager to try to rebel from things that restrict them, and sometimes high school is a serious restriction. Especially since budget cuts have applied to our smaller schools. We don't have the availability of many advanced classes that bigger schools do. How are we to compete when our learning cannot compare to that of a school with a large amount of students, and federal funding?
Education is definitely a competition. It's to see who can learn the most, and apply it to the best job. Its as if since the age of 12 we're being told that we must be successful, we must go out and get a job, buy a house, and become a good citizen. I understand that in order to survive you must first earn money, and then invest it back into the economy...
