What built the empire that is American football. From the stadiums, the sounds, and the smells, and fans. All the way to the coaches and players who play the game. Football is Americas sport. The different strategies that coaches and players bring to the game. And a look at the hall of famers who set the standards for there predecessors. At the start, a version of the game was played by the Greeks. This game was Called Harpaston.(History of football) There was no limit to the amount of players that you can have on the field at the same time. Scoring was done by running, throwing, and or kicking a ball past a goal line. Most modern versions how ever developed in England. Where the game was so popular that kings Edward the II, and Henry the IV banned the game because it took interest out of military sports such as archery. The game made it over to the U.S through immigrants from England who came over to get freedom from there illiterate oppressive king. This in my opinion was they actual start to beging a new era of athletic competition, a dawn of a new sport, where the unexpected becomes the norm. The first pro game ever played took place in 1895, between a team from Latrobe, Pennsylvania vs. a team from Jeanette, Pennsylvania. Then in the following years other teams came in as well.
