In the short 15 years that my life has spanned, history has had his shares of ups and downs. Starting with the year I was born, 1989, was the fall of the Berlin wall. Other events included Desert Storm which followed shortly after. In 1997 there were two events that stick out, the freeing of Hong Kong as a British Colony and the death of Mother Theresa. Shortly thereafter in 2000 was the separation of twins Jodie and Marie.
In 1961, under Soviet Leader Khrushchev, a notorious drunk, abrasive communist leader, a wall was put up along the borders of East Berlin, the Soviet Controlled portion of a city that was split up between democracy and communism and laid smack in the middle of communist East Germany. This wall would keep the East Berliners from seeing the glory of a democratic society. When it was put up it was, it was protested by Democratic societies globally, as depicted in President JFK's proclamation of "Ich Bin Ein Berliner" which literally means I'm a jelly filled doughnut but in his mind meant I'm a Berliner. This structure fortified the feelings that characterized the Cold War for decades to come. In 1989, the wall was finally taken down...
