The Future of Print Media: Not Too Bright
One of the unavoidable consequences of the movement of time is the advance in technology that makes life faster, easier and more efficient for people. Depending upon your personal opinion it can either be a positive or negative occurrence. Industries have risen and fallen in a matter of years because of this natural progression. One such industry that has defied the odds has been the print media, more specifically newspapers, magazines and books. Critics may say the era of print media is soon to be over but there are those out there who would disagree.
Print media has been around since 1453 when Johann Gutenberg invented the printing press with movable type. With the invention of the printing press books were no longer hand written and were more accessible, newspapers eventually were invented and were able to spread important information easily and quickly, and magazines were invented to inform as well as entertain. Each of these industries as we know them today are great resources we have that have progressively made it easier for us all to learn a great amount of information quickly and easily on our own schedule. A new technology has come about that has caused a great stir among these industries, the Internet. With the influx of people who now surf the web and get all the information they need, people have been able to read up on the latest news headlines or read about the trendiest outfit to wear without purchasing a single newspaper or magazine...
