The Concert America’s Music: Jazz Then Dixieland seemed as if it took place in the mid 1980’s. Several talented jazz musicians performed and shared the stage in an unforgettable tribute concert to one of America’s most historic music. The first four guest artists to perform shared the same combo of jazz musicians. The following two had a combo of younger musicians. The performer who opened the concert was Woody Herman and he played the piece Jazz Me Blues and then sang and played the song Basin Street Blues. Clora Bryant was the following musician and she sang and played the song When it’s Sleepytime Down South in admiration to Louis Armstrong. Scotty Plummer was third and he played two extraordinary pieces: Waiting for the Robert E. Lee and The World is Waiting for the Sunrise. After Scotty Plummer’s performance, Della Reese showed-off her one of a kind voice when she sang the song Blue Skies.
