"And Eve, his wife, heard all these things and was glad, saying: Were it not for our transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the obedient."
Latter-day Saints (Mormons) have a unique perspective of the character of Eve. While so many religions condemn her, we should place her on a righteous pedestal for sacrificing immortality for this mortal life.
In my studies this last semester, I read an article titled "Hypostasis of the Archons," in which there was an anonymous fable from a time period some hundred years before Christ that included Jewish components, but is considered a Christian work. Its descriptions of Eve, at first, surprised me, until I realized that, many other beliefs would describe her in the same way. It used words such as carnal, weakly following and wicked. It read that the arrogant Ruler, or God, cursed the Woman, as she was held responsible for the fall, which threw Mankind into great distraction and into a life of toil occupied by worldly affairs without the opportunity to be devoted to the Holy Spirit. Through such glasses as this article seemed to be looking, Eve's sin cursed all of mankind, and failed to recognize what I, as a Latter-day Saint, must see: the blessings that she brought.
