The film "Chuquiago" introduces us with four characters that represent the life in the city of La Paz, each time from a deferent point and deferent social class.
The first character we meet is Isico, a little Indigenous boy.
His parents brought him to the city in order, hopefully, to find a better future.
Little Isico then becomes a street boy, who experience childhood (and probably the rest of his life) through the search of basic needs, in order to survive.
The second character is Johnny, a young man of indigenous parents.
Johnny is looking for jobs in the US, he does not like the traditions of his parents and he prefers the modernization of the western world.
Following Johnny, we continue to the story of Carlos.
The first introduction is at his funeral.
Carlos, a middle class married man and father, liked to go with his friends on Friday nights to gamble, while losing money that was suppose to be use to buy school books, food, etc. Carlos friends are telling about what a nice and innocent guy he was, that the only thing he did to relax was meeting his friends occasionally!..
