Medieval Fashion
Men's, women's and children's fashions in the medieval period was mostly based on their rank in society. Their fashion was also based on if they were married, single or widowed. Women made all of their families clothes while the men in the house worked. Young children had chores and young adults usually were forced to work.
The prices of most fabrics helped to keep only the wealthy to be able to wear most of the stylish fashions. Most households produced a lot of cloths for themselves but, wealthy households were able to go out and buy finer cloths. For example sheer linens, silks, cottons, taffetas, brocades, velvets, and damasks. The most expensive happened to be fur. Queens were spotted wearing ermine and magnates', wives were to wear squirrel coats and women with lesser ranking or considered noblewomen had to settle for rabbit fur. Women were able to buy these materials and tools to help them make clothes such as scissors at shops or bazaars...
