Of all 50 states, only 4 are helmet free, 10 have full helmet laws, 20 have to wear unless your 18 years or older, and 7 have age discrimination. A reason for these laws is that the law doesn't think that the older riders heed as much safety as the younger ones b/c the older they are the more experienced they are. If you look at the statistics over the last 3 years motorcycle deaths have gone up 68% for riders 40 and older and only 20% for younger than 40. In 1990 only 14% of all fatal injured riders were 40 and older. Now, today it's 40%. This increase is because there are becoming older, affluent professionals that own motorcycles also, in most states older people aren't required to wear a helmet.
I think that this bill is most related to the 10th amendment "powers reserved to the states" because the state has the ability to say, that there should be a full helmet law in every state. They don't though, I wonder why because they know that it will save people's lives.
Do helmets really save you life? Yes, they do...
