Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian painter, geologist, biologist, philosopher, sculptor, engineer, anatomist, astronomer, mathematician, architect, musician and scientist. He was one of the great masters of the Renaissance, and one of the most versatile geniuses in history. Leonardo was a very important person in the Italian Renaissance, in which he contributed to a great movement in Italy. He loved geometry and devoted much of his time to it. Leonardo discovered the mysteries of nature and his contributions to science and technology were legendary. Da Vinci grew up in an era where left-handedness was considered work of the devil, and lefties were often made to use their right hands. This was considered an element of his genius, his detachment allowed him to see beyond the accustomed.
Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Vinci, Italy. He was the son of the notary Ser Piero di Antonio da Vinci, and his mother, a peasant woman named Caternia. In the 1460s the da Vinci family lived in Florence, where Leonardo was given the best education that Florence could offer...
