Color Symbolism in The Great Gatsby
F Scott Fitzgerald uses colors to symbolize many things in The Great Gatsby. This symbolism can be seen in every chapter of the novel. Colors can have many different meanings and representations. Green, gold, white, and yellow are all prominent colors in The Great Gatsby.
The color green can have many meanings; sometimes it is associated with spring and youth. Other times it can represent envy or money. Gatsby is a character that is very envious of Tom, because Tom is married to the women that Gatsby is in love with. Gatsby is also a very wealthy man, and believes that his new wealth will help him to get Daisy back. Green also has another meaning in this novel, it can be related to the green light at the end of the Buchanan's dock. "A single green light, minute and far away that might have been the end of a dock"...
