The Decade of Change: The 1940's
The decade of the nineteen forties was the most devastating decade to this date. In the nineteen forties three significant events came upon our country; the entirety of the Second World War, which costs our country hundreds of thousands of lives. The rise of atomic energy, which created the idea that man controls nature and gave us highly destructive power. Lastly but most importantly the Cold War with the USSR, which caused the largest scare our country has ever known. The latter two events were a cause from the Second World War and so therefore the nineteen forties was a decade of havoc.
World War II
The first American play in the Second World War was the lend-lease act. This act allowed the American government to loan weapons and supplies to countries that are vital to the defense of the United States. This became our first involvement into the Second World War. Soon following this decision comes an attack on the United States...
