In the beginning of the movie, the Krammer Family is introduced:Ted
Krammer is lingering and chatting in the office of his boss while his wife
Joanne is home packing her bags. When Ted shows up home, Joanne tells
him that she's leaving him, and storms out, leaving her son Billy, behind
because she needs to find something interesting to do in her life and that she
doesn't have any romantic love for him anymore.
After Ted's wife left him all alone with Billy, you do sympathize for Ted
because he was never around home (worked to much), so Billy was like a
stranger to him and didn't know what to do next. He couldn't even cook
breakfast for billy the next morning, he was just lost on being a father.
Ted and Joanne were married for eight years. For the first two years,
Joanne was happy and after that she became unhappy and troubled because
she had no self-esteem, and then thinking that her son would be better off
with out her. I guess that after Billy's birth, the family of procreation and the
marriage started to fall apart because Ted was never home to help out and
talk to. Basically, Ted was an absent father and husband, he cared more
about his work than his family.
After the divorce, i think that Billy was physically and emotionally
effected. He misses his mother alot because he always talks about her and
eventually cries for her when his father and he had a dispute...
