Types of Diversity
Introduction
Differences are what diversity is all about. Although many organizations are now offering diversity training for their employees, diversity is not really a skill or something for which one can be trained. Many businesses are uncertain about how to meet the challenges presented by the increasing diversity of today's workforce. As the structure of the workforce continues to change, the need to understand and respond grows even stronger. Prior to competing for loyalty on a global scale, organizations must first respond to diversity and the needs of the employees who are responsible for its accomplishments.
Ethnicity
With global work environments challenging changes demand new levels of interacting and communication. Ethnicity is an emerging workplace diversity issue, which can cause harassment and conflict based on an employees' use of language in the workplace. It is the organization's responsibility to ensure, by affirmatively pursuing equal employment guidelines that all current and prospective employees have equal opportunities in all aspects of the employment relationship and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
