Explanation of Hinduism
As Hinduism is practiced by over 80% of India's population, it is therefore the dominant faith of India. It is also known as Sanatana Dharma, meaning eternal religion. It dates back more than 5,000 years, and is commonly known as one of the world's oldest religions in the history of human civilization. It is not easy to define Hinduism, as it is a way of life in India and more than just a religion in the Western sense.
Hinduism is based on the teachings of the ancient scriptures of the Vedas. In these scriptures there are three main facts portrayed through out: Dharma, Karma, and Reincarnation. Through the explanation of these three essentials, a better understanding of the Hindu religion may be attained.
The uniqueness of Hinduism is perhaps that it is the only religious tradition that is so diverse in its theoretical premises and practical expressions that it is like a compilation of religions. Hinduism does not have any one founder, and any one core doctrine to which controversies can be referred to for resolution. There is also no point in time when it could be said to have begun...
