When thinking of sports in terms of war, one would associate the game of football with war and the game of baseball with peace. Examples of this are present in both A Separate Piece and Football Red and Baseball Green. These two pieces of writing are comparable in that they both discuss this fact. Sports are very important in the book A Separate Peace. When you think about it, they are basically the backbone of the story. The main character Phineas is very athletic and is good at every sport he tries. He has a very competitive attitude about everything, and has to be the best no matter what. After he breaks his leg and can no longer participate in sports, he pushes Gene to be athletic for him. In doing this he attempts to get Gene into the next Olympics...
