Nathaniel Greene once said, "I am determined to defend my rights and maintain my freedom or sell my life in the attempt." Those that agreed with this point of view were those who were upset with England, and wanted to be a free nation. The Revolutionary War was caused by growing conflict between the colonists and Great Britain.
There were many causes of the Revolutionary War, but one of the main problems was the unnecessary brutality of the Boston Massacre. This slaughter of lives occurred on March 5, 1770 in front of the Boston customhouse. A mob of colonists angry about the new rules and unjust acts were taunting British soldiers, and confusion and tension arose, and the outcome left five colonists dead. The outrage from the colonists was like nothing ever before. They thought it was uncalled for and unfair because the offending colonists had no weapons against the British. This was a reason for the war because it caused hatred and even more tension between the two countries, and added to the list of unjust actions that the colonies had against Great Britain.
