In the Shakespearian play “Othello” the main character Othello is described as “far more fair than black.” Othello was written and set in the 1600’s in Europe however this issue of skin colour has stemmed out into the USA because of the slave trade many years ago. America has been dealing with the demand for the equality for all skin colours since. Seeing as Othello is a black man I will focus on the inequality of black people and the oppression they have suffered in the United States throughout their history, although dark skinned people are by far not the only ones that have been affected by racism.
