The new Europe-Essay
This Newspaper article dealt with the question, if it is possible to bring 25 people together to sit around one table and that they try to decide on one solution. With the 25 people, the 25 EU-Ministers are meant. After this year 10 new countries joined the European Union, the table where normally 15 Ministers sit, should now sit 25 Ministers. Because of the fact that the table was too small, the Ministers decided on a new one. Here also the first problem started, because first they couldn't decide one the shape of the table, some wanted an oval table, others wanted a rectangular one. Some experts in seating arrangements said that it was a mistake that the Ministers afterwards decided on the rectangular one, because the oval would be definitely better. The reason for this is that on a rectangular table the Ministers who sit on the edges are too far away. "There is Siberia at every corner" said an expert. Another problem is that with 25 people it is almost impossible to decide on one thing, criticizes an expert in political psychology, because he says that the maximal number of people in a group which should work and can decide on one thing is 15. Furthermore the Newspaper article explains that each new countries sits between two "old" members, and so that the new members could adapt better into the Union...
