For hundreds of years the use of school vouchers has been a topic of debate in both the political and educational systems. A voucher system creates different types of aids to be provided to the student to spend on his or her education as seen fit, as opposed to being given to the public school that he or she attends. There have been numerous studies done on the affects that different schooling has on children. Polls have been done attempting to determine public opinion on the use of vouchers. Despite all the research the use of vouchers is one of the most consistently discussed issues in the public school system today. Among the main problems of using vouchers is their constitutionality, whether the current public school system is or is not working, and is there a workable and fair voucher system that can be setup. Advocates of vouchers have been struggling with these issues for years in multiple courts trying to create a voucher system. The pro school vouchers argument is a strong one but is the weaker of the two due to many obstacles blocking it from taking affect. Among those obstacles are the lack of good factual information on which to base their arguments and the lack of a constitutional basis for a voucher program.
