Congratulations to all who attended class everyday, took long exams, followed the rules, and survived the social conflicts. We have made many self discoveries and we have become unique individuals. Now is the time to combine our past experiences with our dreams for the future.
My father used to say, "Someday you can make your own rules." I have been making a list of my own rules since I was thirteen, and until now they were great. Eating chocolate for dinner and staying out until 3:00 AM might not pay the rent or even keep me alive. Even thought those rules would not work, we really do get to make our own rules for ourselves.
"Not I- not anyone else can travel that road for you, you must travel it for yourself." I quote Walt Whitman because he speaks the truth about responsibility and his individuality as a writer shows us independent thinking. Remember the first time you told your Mom you were wearing the clothes you chose, and you did not need her to make your lunch or tie your shoes...
