The patriot Act
On September 11, 2001 thousands of lives were lost as a result of the terrorist acts done to the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Millions of Americans were in secure and frightened. As a result the Governemnt felt it was their duty to make Americans feel safe again. On October 26, 2001, President Bush signed a law that expands the powers of government agencies and violates civil liberties such as First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendment. The Patriot act was passed just forty five days after the September 11, when there was immense fear of following terrorist attacks. The American government was worried about preventing future attacks, so they pushed aside fears that the bill would take away the civil liberties and freedom that the United States was built on. Since then the fear of terriost attacks have gone down untill another Terriost attack was done to Spain. It seems that the Patriot Act and Bush's war on terriorism isn't working, yet individuals are still sacrificing their rights.
The Patriot act is unconstutional and must be removed. Primarily, the Patriot Act is a violation of the first amendment, which guarantees freedom of speech press, religion and peaceful assembly (US Constituion)...
