The Act established Manitoba as a province and provided some protection for French language rights. Louis Riel is probably the most controversial figure in canadian history. Hes a hero to the French Canadians and a traitor to the British. From my point of view i see him as a hero who faught for Metis rights and freedoms. He believed he could help his people and save their culture. My question is how much did Louis Reil help his people and do you think he deserved to be executed?
Louis Riel was born in the Red River Settlement in what is now Manitoba in 1844. He was sent to montreal and studied for Priesthood but never graduated. He then studied Law but didnt like that either. Louis Riel is probably the most controversial figure in canadian history...
