It was a warm October evening in 1995 with the distant skyscrapers sparkling in the dusk as Ashleigh glanced through the window of her plane at the familiar New York skyline. She was going to miss good old New York but knew that she would be happier with Callum, in Alaska.
Callum and Ashleigh had been together for three years when Callum finally plucked up the courage to ask Ashleigh to marry him. Naturally, she said yes, and within six months they were Mr and Mrs Skidmore. Callum was a fisherman from the North of Alaska and Ashleigh was a very famous and very wealthy businesswoman from the heart of New York. Her parents never approved of Callum which was the main reason she had decided to go and live with him rather than him come to New York. She was upset about leaving. Even though they had refused to attend the wedding, she still loved her parents very much and would miss them deeply.
She slept for most of the journey but woke up just in time to see her first glimpse of the snow-topped mountains that she would be waking up to for the rest of her life. It was a big change from the tall skyscrapers and crowded streets of New York but she was happy, and as far as she was concerned, that's all that mattered to her...
