Peer pressure is one of the many reasons why people may act differently around others than they normally would. In the story "I Know This Much Is True" this is greatly proven. Wally Lamb's main character Dominik is a perfect example of a person who is heavily influenced by peer pressure. Not only does it affect the way he acts in pubic, it also affects his attitude towards others and what he thinks of life.
The result of peer pressure makes Dominic act the way his friends do and not necessarily the way he would. For instance, while the girls are going to the washroom, Dominik and two of his friends "say wiseguy things" to them. He also makes a "snotty" comment to one of the girls when she gives him a "dirty look." By acting rudely towards others in public, Dominik is trying to impress his friends. Not only is it rude, but it is also hurting another person's feelings.
