Volunteerism is probably rooted in a desire to help others, which might be rooted further in the psychological need to get a good feeling about oneself derived from helping others. Perhaps that is part of the human genetic makeup that altruism develops this good feeling. Volunteering helps in satisfying our physiological and social wants it creates the satisfaction that we have done something to help those who do not have everything, to making a difference in someone’s life or rendered services to Mother Earth. Volunteering helps in edifying our character and personality while performing any type of volunteering work through this we invariably come in contact with people from different backgrounds and lifestyles. This contact helps in bettering ones outlook on life background. Various types of help through which society or any specific organization in which a group of people benefit is considered volunteering, though it is not necessary that the benefits are monetary.
