In the following paragraphs, I will be talking about some important facts on seven databases. Some of the topics I will cover are database system function, requirements, expansion capabilities, companies using each database, how the database is being used and cost associated with its use. The seven databases will be (in order) Access SQL, MS SQL Server 2000, Oracle, DB2, Informix, and MySQL.
Access SQL
Access SQL is a database used for smaller businesses that cannot afford to pay for the more expensive databases. Not saying that this database could not support a large database, but this database is mainly used for small reporting and data. You can also create user friendly entry screens for easier use. Access SQL's system requirement are as follows:
Personal computer with an Intel Pentium 233 megahertz or higher processor.
128 megabytes of RAM
180 megabytes of available hard disk space.
Microsoft Windows Operating system
